Essay body-the value in art
My topic is value in art. In the text book it gives the definition that it is not its monetary worth, but its intrinsic value to the individual and to society as a whole. Another source also gives me an idea about the value in art, “A work of art that transcends a form, but that is also intelligible, and an object that strikes down an idea while allowing it to spring up stronger.” Both ideas use different ways to express and describing the meaning “value of art”. Even though agree to both definitions, I prefer the second statement from Immanuel Kant. Whenever we are trying to just put one definition to something, we are actually destructing its meanings. The meaning of the “object that strikes down and idea while allowing it to spring up stronger” already gives a definition. In the Buddhism sutra there is an idea to express, “Form does not differ from emptiness; emptiness does not differ from form. Form itself is emptiness; emptiness itself is form.” For example, cup is not a cup. When we fill with water, we call it “cup”. We put the pens inside, and we call it “pencil holder”. If we put the soil and plant a seed, we call it “flower pot”. Therefore, whether how high or low the value in art is depends on how people understand and value it.

I am going to show a video to explain my idea about the value in art. The video is an experimentation done a few years ago in Washington D.C. World famous violinist Joshua Bell was asked to play in Washington Metro during a morning rush hour. How the people will receive him and his work?
How we define the value in art? Does everything that is put in the museum can be called “artwork”? A chair at home, we call it furniture. A chair in the museum, we call it “artwork”. How people value the artwork? Therefore, everything can be artworks; everything can not be artworks.
However, if it could speak, what would it say? If it could speak, it would say, I am just a “____”, but you give me a name “____”. All of the names are not really my name.. I could be anything you name me to be, and when you call my name, I could also be something else.
If I want to create an artwork, I would try to do a simple one because simplicity can give audience more rooms to image. Audience A can have a totally different understanding from my artwork than audience B. There is no absolute answer to my artwork just like a cup may not even be a cup sometimes.
Essay Body: ART AND ITS PERCEPTION
There are different ways the world view things and how they appreciate them to their content. For the world to appreciate a specific object or a piece of art, there must be something they value from the paticular object. "What is the Wolrd's Perception For Artworks? The art work is one of Edouard Manet art piece that was rejected along with some other paintings.
Rewrite - Introduction: Beauty in Art
My paper is about the notion of beauty in art and the question I will be discussing is: what criteria make an artwork reflect beauty? This may help us understand and appreciate beautiful artwork.
Beauty being a concept that differs from individuals, periods, cultures, and context makes its distinction in art very challenging. However, in the culture section of the British newspaper, The Telegraph, I found an article which presents ten qualities that makes an art beautiful. Reading the article and “Venus in Exile” I realized that beauty in art has evolved over time and is not only “in the eye of the beholder”. Paintings such as Piero Della Francesca’s Pregnant Madonna, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling, and Robert Rauschenberg’s Charlene will be used in my paper to illustrate some criteria of beauty in art.
I have chosen to make a painting for my art project representing a landscape. This is relevant to the topic I am writing for it is going to reflect some criteria of beauty and design.

Rewrite - Introduction: Sculpture and Venus
How is importance of creating Venus in sculpture?
I think that is interesting question which I can find out the answer by reading Sculpture section in text book and watching series “How art made the world” which Professor introduced to us. In the text book, it gives me the conception about sculpture, carving on wood and stone which are the common carving material. In series “How art made the world”, I can see affection of sculpture to spirit and modern art, especially the sculptures of Venus are discovered in many places with marvelous beliefs. The social, political and religious beliefs created the valuable artworks that were highly appreciated. I am interested in sculpture because any artworks were created , they also have specific meanings. And I can reference about them more by watching above series, reading books in library. The new knowledge which I get from referencing helps me understanding deeply value of artworks in sculpture about images of Venus in thinking of people. The definitions, pictures, videos are really useful to help me answering above question, approaching to discovery magical beauties of Venus sculpture and understanding meaning of spirit when the people create Venus.

How has the art of design changed through fashion sice the 1900's?
This question will help to understand the importance and history behind the are of design and fashion. While reading an excerpt in our art book, The world of Art (pg. 384) it was interesting how the author talked about designers and how they can take and object or product and make it appealing. Since the 1900's fashion has changed tremendously, from clothing, shoes, jewelry and even hairstyles. According to an an article online named clothing styles in early 1900's, states that prior to the mid 1900's most clothing was custom made,hand sewed and tailored for individuals to meet their needs.As years past and different social aspects changed in the society many people styles of fashion changed also. The fashion industry was first introduced in Europe and America but today the design of fashion is very globalized.An American fashion company may have fabric that is from China but have it manufactured in Vietnam and then sent to Italy to be finished and shipped to the U.S to be sold.With the invention of the sewing machine and other material used to make clothing and accessories today, fashion has taken a major turn to meet every aspect of social change from young to old. What was once worn in the 1900's is no longer part of what we wear today. I would look at different sources such as fashion magazines and other internet sites and also a book titled Fashion and it's Social Agendas to show the change of fashion over time. I am sure I will find a wide variety of different aspects of fashion because everyone has a different taste in style, therefore I believe that i will find different answers to my question. I will find different pictures that will reflect the style of the 1900's versus the styles of today.
