Humanity will never be done making art, ever. As soon as we find the most durable materials, making it last, the most efficient mediums for circulation, making it far reaching, or painting techniques, so that it can rival creation itself; we must start again. I wonder at our collective compulsion to make and experience art, considering this futility, but I do not question that the compulsion is there, and how it speaks, this compulsion, about our need to find community while we express and experience the divine.
I order to achieve a desired effect in art, you must sacrifice, allowing many, many things to go unexpressed. Other artists will become “spiritually bothered” by the vacuum that has been created by that which is unexpressed, and once again, will be enticed into inspiration. They will want to create new works that communicate something true, essential, universal. In the act of this creation, the artist begins the eventual materialization of their own transcendent insights,and began to entropy. It is mysterious and beautiful, this futility; forever thwarted, forever hungry and yet we all still strive for a renewal of understanding and expression.

Annunciation – Thu Ton

The painting of the Annunciation was completed when he was only 21 years old. The specific painting which Leonardo used aerial perspective. He also used light and color perfectly in this work.

iconography and symbols- Dana Kennamore

Jean Michel Basquiat us an artist that illustrated iconography and symbols to the fullest. He is first known for being the Graffiti King in New York. Also known as the Tag King.
the use of iconography and symbols are displayed as crowns, which as are symbols of success in African American Heroes. he used many heroic African Americans, such as jazz artists, famous negro athletes, and comic book heroes in his paintings as well.
the comic Bork symbols range from "S" standing for Superman, X-MN for X-Man, and the Norse god Thor. in his eyes these were all kings. the comic book heroes are all created by Marvel Comics.
He goes into more iconography, with the African American hero, Charlie Parker, who is a jazz artist. Charlie Parker also saw himself as a "Charles the First", he referenced himself in the same status as the England King Charles I. he was beheaded in 1646 by Protestants in the English Civil War. Also, Parker's song "Cherokee" in the third panel of "Charles the First", evoked the four feathers above "Cherokee", in that panel. The feathers in this piece represents violence. the terms "tar and feathering".
Basquiat uses the symbol"S" not just for Superman, but an iconographic sign: if it has a line through it or crossed out, suggests dollars. he also uses the copyright sign in most of his paintings, he states this is a symbol of ownership ans exercise of property rights. This also is a sign of control in American society. Basquiat sees that as the rights and control in this America as the root for the institution of slavery.
Reading and looking at Jean-Michel Basquiat works of art, he really expresses his thought s and emotions in his work. in my opinion he uses iconography and symbols to tell very clear stories about history and individual lives that some people had left out or did not want it told.
The legends and great people in history have influenced and made his work some wonderful pieces. these pieces touch on many issues that have and still plague society today. As Basquiat states about his work " Royalty, heroism and the streets", when asked by Henry Geldzahkler.

Beauty and Perception - Dwan Thompson Analytical Esaay, (re-done)

When we look at other people, animals, or objects everyone looks at them differently. We let our eyes and emotions take control and sometimes things are perceived differently than others. Our past experiences and places we have been dictates how we would feel about certain things. Things that are beautiful cannot always be seen as beautiful to all people because everyone looks at things in different manners. This is why I chose to look at perception and beauty together to analyze how they are both defined.

The world of art is made of artists talented in different ways. They represent the world in angles they understand it and use words or images to show it. It is usual to hear people saying that images speak louder than words. In the next sentences, we will be talking about description and meaning. By comparing two images, we will make our way from the remarkable artwork and better understand its meaning. 

Analysis Essay - Jennifer Abbott-Pope

Ana Mendieta’s, Silueta Works in Mexico, illustrates an image, a silhouette, of her body which also offers the illusion of a sword stained with blood. Mendieta sought closure regarding her homeland Cuba as she was being exposed to a whole new world in the USA. The two were apparent in how individuals experienced life as portrayed in this piece of art.

Now exposed to “freedom” without boundary and repression, the picture demonstrates how Mendieta fought with a form of guilt and disenchantment. The title illustrates a defining moment for Mendieta—Silueta/Silhouette: a likeness cut from dark material and mounted on light ground. This picture displays such canning symbolism expressed by the artist. Cuba as the “dark material”, Mendieta, herself and/or a representation of all the refugees as the “silueta”, “mounded on light ground” the orphanage in Iowa.

Power and freedom has played a major part throughout history. Many artist shows different ways to express their selves. Virgin/Vessel and the Three Fujins are two examples of traditions. By comparing these two works, it is possible to explore ways the way artist works at different occasion.

As i meticulously scrutnize the portrait, so i am gonna to be critical in a certain level. This painting is a vivid illustration of mixture, or combination of light and color.  The luminosity stands in a remarkable contrast with Darkness. It is creative way, and fashion to give the portrait more splendor and more aesthetica . This shows how colors can be both quintessenntials and decoratives. For its neutral nature, black color  associated with darkness , it is purposely selected for the great value it brings when it is combined with other colours. It is worth emphaizing that ligh tis main media of this painting .The illumination of the picture tends to reveal a certain female sensuality. Chiaroscuro plays a fundamental role as it refers to the balance of light and shade in picture. I am blown away by the ingeniosity of artist, this is a masterpiece. It is hellish impressive.Seemingly, the painting is modern because the artist uses artificial lights.

In this essay, I have learned how the lines are being made by the artist. I have learned what kind of dimensional shape the picture is and how they are being drawn or done by the artist. I would like to say that I have learned that drawing does not have to have people with clothing on but can be drawn with people that is nude. I did not think that is legal because of the showing of private parts of a male or female.

 As it is said in the textbook, photography was informational when it was created and gradually became the important art that it is today. From the kinetoscope to the digital cameras of today photographs are images of a particular moment. However, I think that in most cases a shot is more than what it shows.

 Mamadou Kanonaté is a Malian photographer whose work is often related to daily life. In this photograph he took a shot of women fishing with a hand made net. In the foreground we see a woman firmly holding her net, and in the background other women are working with the water almost reaching their waist.

Is the way different artists respond to their world in different times and place, and share the fundamental desire to create. A world of art is a way the world shows concern about creating new things. World of Art is the way people view the world and, how they respond to it. Roman Campagnas - CHARLIE CHIRINO

Nature has always been one of the most interesting scenes for paintings. The painter Thomas
Cole was inspired on nature in his painting Roman Campagnas. In this piece of art the artist reflects a beautiful landscape that shows a low-lying area surrounding Rome in the Lazio region of central Italy called Campagna. This region has a lot of history for the Ancient Rome because these lands were an important agricultural and residential area. The pastoral beauty of the Campagna inspired the painters who flocked into Rome in 18th and 19th centuries, as is the case of Thomas Cole.

What piece of presentation is the most valuable?n - Mun Vyacheslav

         I use to analyze different parts of art such as paintings, sculptures, and pop-art in my home country. Now, I got a chance to try myself in different culture, fortunately I’m looking forward to start. I really like the first lesson of arts appreciation, by our teacher Mrs. Hagit Barkai. She has his own method of conducting the lesson, which makes the lesson really interesting and attractive. The most valuable piece of the presentation on my opinion is “Package” by Christo.

Light & Color - Cody Skidmore

In my discussion of light and color I will be analyzing Rembrandt van Rijn’s painting, The Mill. I choose this image because I believe it reflects a broad range of techniques that it talked about in the textbook when dealing with light and color.
